Our History

Η ΙΣΤΟΡΙΑ ΜΑΣ
  • Our esteemed center, Speech & Communication, was founded in 1999 by Mrs. Sofia Vagena

Mrs. Sofia Vagena, a distinguished speech therapist, left her position in the British Public Health System (NHS) to permanently return to Greece. Throughout her extensive studies in Greece and Britain, she was a recipient of scholarships from the Papadakis Endowment, the Onassis Foundation, and the Lilian Voudouris Foundation.

Her research and clinical interests span a broad spectrum of scientific fields. These include hearing loss/deafness, verbal dyspraxia, pervasive developmental disorders, stuttering, and specific learning difficulties.

Her resume proudly reflects many participations in conferences and seminars, a list that continues to grow. She is a certified supervisor recognized by the Panhellenic Association of Speech Therapists.

  • The various departments within Speech & Communication have evolved and flourished as the center gained prominence all over. Thanks to our collaborative efforts, we have honed exceptional expertise in diverse fields.

This multidisciplinary approach enables us to offer comprehensive support to children, from toddlers to teenagers, and their families, addressing their unique developmental needs at every stage.

We have successfully managed a wide range of complex developmental challenges, always prioritizing the psycho-emotional health of the child and their family. Our commitment to close collaboration with all figures in a child’s life has earned us the trust of the local community.

  • Most of our referrals come from satisfied former clients, pediatricians, and teachers in the areas of Peristeri, Petroupoli, Ilion, Kamatero, Chaidari, Aigaleo, Kolonos, and Sepolia.

To ensure the highest standard of services at Speech & Communication, Mrs. Vagena has implemented stringent operational guidelines and works alongside a developmental specialist and a child psychiatrist. Our center has been certified with ISO 9001:2000. Furthermore, we have been honored with an award from the Smile of the Child organization (Hamogelo tou Paidiou) for our charitable contributions.
